Cornwall's two biggest Badminton events for 2000, will be held at Carn Brea Recreation Centre, Pool, Nr. Redruth, writes John Tresidder.
Firstly, the Duchy of Cornwall 18th 'Open' Championships, sponsored jointly by Direct Sports Supplies (DSS) Ltd, is scheduled for September 23rd/24th.
The prize-fund will be equal, at least, to last year's £900.00 and the Management Committee is hoping that a Celebrity will conduct the opening.
Meanwhile, the DSS Inaugural Cornwall Veteran's 'Open' for the Over-40/45/50/55 age groups is scheduled for October 14th/15th.

Linda Collins, the Honorary Secretary for the West Cornwall Badminton League announces that the League AGM is being held at Holman's Sports Club, Pendarves Road, Camborne, on Wednesday April 19th (7.30 pm).
Consequently, Club Secretaries are reminded that Mrs Collins is to be in receipt of any associated resolutions, in writing, by Wednesday, March 1st.

U13 boys single winner - Stuart Randall (St Austell); Runner-up - Guy Mitchell (St Austell).
U13 boys doubles winners - Guy Mitchell (St Austell), Philip Simmonds (Camborne); Runners-up - Stuart and Thomas Randall.
No U13 girls entered.
U18 girls singles winner - Lucy Manico (St Agnes); Runner-up - Zoe Frost (Camborne).
U18 boys singles winner - James Allen (Upton Cross); Runner-up - Ka-Hoo (Camborne).
U18 doys doubles winners - Edward McGuffie and Ross Haywood (St Austell); Runners-up - Mark Gliddon and Richard Andrews (Liskeard).
