MONTHS of hard work and non-stop fund-raising have finally paid off for one family. Seven-month-old Ellie Libby from Looe has severe breathing difficulties, so her family set about trying to raise the £17,500 needed for a new endoscope for Plymouth's Derriford Hospital. At the moment, children with conditions like Ellie's have to use the adult endoscope, so new children's equipment would come as a welcome addition. And at the Morval Vintage Steam Rally on Monday, the final contributions were made to hit the five-figure target. Ellie's mum Julie said: 'Morval Rally started off the fund with a £1,000 donation earlier this year, so we are especially thrilled to make our £17,500 target by the end of this year's rally.' Raffle tickets for Morval Rally had been on sale throughout Looe, while a host of fund raising events taking place during the summer ensured that Ellie's Endoscope Fun reached it's target. 'I am astounded by the generosity and enthusiasm of local people and how they have come together to raise such large amounts of money within such a short period,' said Julie. 'Ellie may only be seven months old, but she certainly seems to have inspired people to support our fund raising.' Ellie was released from hospital briefly to be at the Morval Rally.
