DEBORAH Bowden of Liscawn Terrace has just had her second book published through the Ulverscroft Foundation, a charity to provide funds for research, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. Deborah writes under the name of Deborah Blake – using her mother's maiden name – and has been writing since she was eight years old. As a child, Enid Blyton was her heroine and Deborah used to write weekly comics for her little sister, selling them to make some pocket money. She started writing more seriously about ten years ago, encouraged by her daughter, Hazel. Deborah has just had her second paperback published in large print. The book, called 'Dangerous Love' is set in Kenya. Deborah has visited Kenya herself and says the book could be loosely based on 'life's experiences'. She presented two books to Kate Wilton of Torpoint Library. Kate said: 'The books are very popular, especially with some of our older readers, who find the large print much easier to read.' She is now in the middle of her third book with a working title of 'To Trust a Stranger'. This is set in Egypt, a country she has visited on a number of occasions and likes very much. This would be her first full sized book of about 60,000 words and, if successful, she hopes to become a professional writer of romantic fiction. Although originally from London, Deborah has lived in Torpoint for more than 14 years and would never consider moving away. She met her husband, Wayne, here.
