I am reseaching the history of Barn Street/Russell Street/Station Road in Liskeard, and I understand that sometime during the 1920s or 30s an attempted murder took place in the shop which is now Rebecca's Florist.
The shop W.H. Davey's Dairy, it later became a general grocery as well, was run by Mrs Davey, who was the victim of the attack. The assailant was a disgruntled customer.
Although this was reported in the local press at the time it would be a mammoth task to plough through 20 years worth of newspapers.
Can anyone help? Even to narrow down the date would be of considerable assistance. Any other items of interest or pictures of the street would be much appreciated. Please contact Mrs J Wills, 8 Russell Street, Liskeard PL14 4BW.
MRS J WILLS.
