The Launceston 10km was held on Saturday evening, and over 100 runners took part in the race. The two lap course around the town proved quite hilly but the weather stayed fine for the event.

The winner of the race was Richard Mathews from Cornwall AC, in a time of 33:30. The first lady back was Debbie Fugler from Newquay Road Runners, in 41:37.

Seven East Cornwall Harriers lined up for this event, being part of the Cornwall Grand Prix Series. Revis Crowle had another brilliant race, being second lady home in 43:03, she finished with a sprint against fellow club mate Andrew Lord. Other trophies went to ECHs Mike Erith for the first male over 50, Jacky Tyler for the first lady over 40, and Vic Mckee for the oldest finisher at 73yrs. Mark Andrews managed to pick up a spot prize.

The male team trophy went to Cornwall AC, and the female team trophy was won by Newquay Road Runners.

ECH results: Mike Erith 39:45, Len White 40:43, Mark Andrews 41 :59, Revis Crowle 43:03, Andrew Lord 43:03, Jacky Tyler 49:40, Vic Mckee 61:00.

The Torbay Half Marathon was held on Sunday 27th June. This was the last of the half marathons sponsored by Eurobel, and anyone completing all three will receive a commemorative T-shirt and certificate of their overall achievement. The other two races in the series were Exeter and Plymouth.

The race followed an undulating out and back course, the weather proved to be rather too warm and sunny for some. The bluster wind was almost as much of a problem as the fact that the runners were competing on roads full of traffic.

There were over 600 starters, and local runner Ronnie James, from Newquay RR, came second. Four East Cornwall Harriers attended, having all completed the previous other two Half marathons. These were Mike Erith who finished in 1:29, despite his fast 10k run the evening before. Mike Palmer completed the course in 1:33. Amanda Erith managed 1:46 in the difficult conditions, and Carol Pollard finished in 1:54.
