A COMMITTEE has been set up at Ashtorre Centre to plan for next year's Brunel 200 celebrations. Ashtorre Brunel Celebrations group (ABC) said celebrations at the Centre would include an old time music hall to start the events on Friday, April 7. On Brunel's birthday (April 9) a Victorian tea party will be held. A quilting exhibition is being held over the period also a model railway exhibitions and an open day of fun outside on Easter Sunday . Other attractions will include a film show evening by TSW of archives, an evening with the Larrick Lads, a music evening with Bronwen and Ken Speare, a talk on Brunel by Bill Myers will also feature in the celebrations, and a treasure hunt. A special postcard and stamp set is being created by Ashtorre Centre with Brunel on it. Lyn Marsh and Sheila Butler who formed the ABC group said that they hope to include some events in Victorian costume.
