Local artist Mike Howells presented his commissioned painting of a Christmas scene in Torpoint to cllr Ray Skelly before the council meeting last Friday. Cllr Skelly had been involved in organising and putting up the Christmas lights for a number of years and commissioned Mike to paint the watercolour. The painting was also made into a limited run of prints and sold to help local charities. Cllr Skelly said: 'I asked Mike to do this because I was involved in the Christmas lights. 'This is the second one he has done for me, the previous one was of the Jubilee Celebrations.' Mike also presented a print to mayor John Crago to be auctioned in aid of the mayor's charities, Torpoint Archives and St James Church. The fund currently stands at more than £940.
