A new art society to serve South East Cornwall is to begin in Liskeard later this year offering eight or nine monthly lectures a year on such subjects as painting, sculpture, architecture, music, garden design, lives of artists, composers, symbolism in art and much more.
The Society will be affiliated to the national Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies which has a nationwide membership of 85,000 in over 200 individual groups.
Founded over 25 years ago, NADFAS has become one of the leading Arts educational charities in the UK.
In addition to the lectures, which are given by outstanding experts in various fields, members are offered the opportunity to be involved in voluntary work at museums and galleries, churches and country houses.
There are already flourishing local branches in Plymouth, Bodmin and Truro, all with long waiting lists.
Dr John Sewart is the membership secretary of the new society, and all prospective members in South East and East Cornwall are invited to contact him on 01752 516371, email address [email protected]">[email protected]
Lectures will usually be held on the second Tuesday evening in the month at the Public Hall, Liskeard.
There is a one-off joining fee of £10, and an annual subscription of £25.
