AN ARSON attack could have had 'devastating' results if left to spread police said yesterday. Petrol was poured through the letterbox of a house in Trenant Road, East Looe, into the hallway and set alight using a rag at around 12.10am on Thursday morning. Both police and the fire brigade were called and arrived within ten minutes. 'The seriousness of this cannot be understated,' Sgt Mick Howe of Looe police said. 'Although the house is up for sale and the vendors do not live there, it is at the end of a terrace. Had the fire held the results could have been devastating to say the least.' Looe's Police Community Support Officers spent some of yesterday morning conducting house-to- house calls in a bid to get more details. Police are now appealing for any information on any suspicious activity in the Barbican, Pendennis and Trenant Road areas of Looe between 11pm and midnight on September 27 and 28.
