ARMED police were called to a village to try and catch a burglar who was reported to have stolen a shotgun. Six police cars, dog handlers and a force helicopter sealed off all routes into Pelynt as police searched for a man who was seen heading away from a property. A police spokesman said at no time did anyone see the burglar with a gun or threatening anyone with a hostage situation during the incident on Thursday, May 31. Police called off the six-hour search for the man after what they described as a slow and methodical check of the burgled premises. Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses this week, asking anyone who may have seen the man to contact them. The burglar is described as white, aged about 40, 5ft 8ins and with short grey or blond hair. Police are also asking anyone who may have seen an unusual vehicle in the area to call them.
