I READ with interest the letter (Cornish Times, 05.05.06) on the plight of the residents of Station Road in the vicinity of Rapsons Car Park who have to endure the anti-social behaviour of the youth, both female and male. They unfortunately are not alone. We in Dean Street are also subject to such behaviour from the young low-life of Liskeard, particularly at weekends. The gangs congregate in the Westbourne Gardens laden with alcoholic drink and we are the recipients of shouting, screaming obscenities, fighting and attempting to cause as much damage to the park as possible. The police are called but after they leave the misfits return and continue. The park was not locked at night for several months but now is on occasion, but the gangs then just enter by climbing over the gate and walls. This past weekend a house near to the park had a window smashed, the lids of the refuse bins were forced off, large slates on the top of the wall were forced off and smashed into the lane, a van parked in the car park had the driver window smashed by a rock, there was a half-successful attempt to wrench off the sign for Westbourne Lane, and the park was littered with cans and bottles and other debris. May I suggest that our representatives on the town, district and county councils visit the park early on a Saturday and Sunday morning to see how this lovely amenity is being abused. This is affecting the well-being of the law-abiding council tax payers who are also having to foot the bill for the continuing damage caused.
