There will be another chance to see the Duchess of Sutherland 1930s express locomotive speeding through Saltash, St Germans, Menheniot, Liskeard, Bodmin and Lostwithiel on Sunday (August 28) as another Royal Duchy excursion will be heading to Par.

Organisers The Railway Touring Co have confirmed that the Duchess of Sutherland, built for the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1938, will again be the engine on this train – until the Royal Albert Bridge’s recent strengthening and renovations the loco was deemed too heavy to cross the Tamar.

The train is scheduled to depart Plymouth at around 12.50 and to reach Par at 14.02. It will leave Par again at 17.40, retracing its route via Lostwithiel, Bodmin Parkway, Liskeard, St Germans and Saltash to arrive at Plymouth at 17.40 before heading back to Exeter, Taunton and Bristol.
