ANGEL-bombing has been bringing joy to hundreds of people in towns in South East Cornwall.

Around 500 knitted angels have been made by members of the Liskeard and Looe Methodist Circuit. The volunteers went out ‘angel-bombing’ in the dark of early morning on Monday, leaving their tiny creations in doorways and on walls for residents to find as they left home or arrived at work.

Meanwhile in Torpoint, knitters from St James Church ventured out to leave their angels on doorsteps and gates to houses in the town.

The group were determined to prove claims that their town ‘lacked Christmas spirit’ wrong.

Their simple gesture brought a smile to many, some of whom took to social media to express their gratitude.

‘It has brought joy to a lot of people, thankyou,’ said Dawn Spicer.

‘I found mine while walking my dog with my neighbour who found one too, it’s an amazing thing the ladies did.’

Kate Farndale said: ‘We were blessed with two for our tree; one on our gate and a second I rescued from the roadside. After I asked for the pattern so I could try and knit a third for my son’s grave, a very special angel was left on our doorstep. It’s 11 years today since he grew his wings aged just three days old. These angels have made my Christmas. Thank you St James Church.’
