My family and I moved from the U.S.A. to Liskeard almost thirty years ago. As an American I guess I qualify as a foreigner. However, after all the continuing correspondence about Cornish antagonism and 'racism,' I finally feel I must write in protest

. From the time we arrived we have had Cornish neighbours, Cornish workmates, and Cornish friends. I have always been treated with friendliness, generosity, helpfulness, and good humour. I have never felt unwelcome or ostracised. I simply do not understand where all these unfriendly miserable Cornish people are or why I haven't met any in thirty years.

We love Cornwall and feel at home in Liskeard and have made many friends over the years, both Cornish and non Cornish. I think it's time to put an end to all this negative correspondence and concentrate on all the positive attributes of Cornwall and its people, both Cornish and non-Cornish alike, because in my experience the good ones are in the majority. I would not want to live anywhere else.
