With Spring just around the corner, it won't be long before the lawn needs mowing and the annual task of keeping the garden under control will begin again.

If the disposal of your garden waste is causing you a problem every season, then an event being held by Caradon District Council may have the solution to your horticultural dilemma.

A neighbourhood composition seminar is being held on Tuesday March 14 at 10am in the council chamber at Luxstowe House, Liskeard.

It aims to provide a skill sharing session for those interested in setting up community composting schemes. Community composting schemes can range from several neighbours getting together to combine their composting activities to whole villages setting up collections and composting at a central site.

Community composting schemes can reduce the cost and inconvenience for householders wanting to dispose of their garden waste.

The environmental merits of composting garden waste have long been acknowledged. They are as relevant now as ever, especially with landfill space in the county being at a premium.

The speaker will be Nicky Scott of the Devon Community Composting Network, who will offer advice to interested parties. Nicky's skill in the field of community composting has enabled numerous schemes to flourish across the Tamar.

The seminar, which is free of charge, is open to everyone and starts at 10am on Tuesday March 14 in the council chamber, Luxstowe House, Liskeard.
