THE Great Cornish Raft Race will be taking place in Looe this year. Despite fears over the future of the race, a date has been set for this year's festivities, with a local pub landlord providing fresh impetus. Alistair Graham, from the Decker pub at East Looe, will be helping to fuse traditional favourites such as face painting and pavement art competitions with live music and entertainment on Sunday, June 5. Last year saw 43 raft entries, with a great turnout of local support. This year, organisers have hoped that even more people will take part in the event, although it is stressed that safety is a key issue and all those competing must wear life jackets.
