A TOWN mayor has praised the behaviour of residents following a high spirited and trouble-free New Year's Eve celebration. Liskeard police were happy to report no serious disturbances during the night of December 31 – something which also pleased mayor Chris Ferguson. 'It is really nice to see local people enjoying themselves without needing to hurt people or cause damage to property,' he said. Many people celebrating the end of 2006 decided to dress up to mark the occasion with vicars, pirates and superheroes all being seen enjoying the party as the town's pubs put on music and other events.
