SALTASH Citizens' Advice Bureau is running a recruitment campaign to try and bring in more volunteers to keep the service going. Two volunteers have shown that there is no age barrier. Frank has worked for CAB for more than 20 years and now, at the age of 80, still has the energy for the job. This includes teaching the youngest advisor, Ian, how to deal with clients with debt problems. Law student Ian has worked in the Saltash bureau for a year and out of term time. He returns home to Torpoint to be on the Saltash bureau's rota. Ian applied to be an advisor in his first summer holiday from university. He said: 'All my friends, and some clients, ask why I don't do a paid job, and I always reply that I get a lot out of CAB. 'It is great to work with the team in the bureau, and I'm improving my skills all the time. It is good to empower and help people in your community.' The Citizens' Advice Bureau provides advice and assistance in many ways no matter how big or small the inquiry. If you would like to train to be a volunteer in the bureau, call Saltash manager Christina on Plymouth (01752) 846000.
