THIS week is the start of the new rugby playing season for Liskeard and Looe RFC, based at Lux Park.
Although the majority of the teams have been engaged in pre-season training during the summer, they are now raring to go for
the next 32 weeks of sport.
The first event for the mini junior section is the Rugby Open Day, which takes place this Sunday at 11.00 am for players between the ages of six and 16. No previous experience is necessary, as all age groups have RFU-qualified coaches and each player will be given a pack of information ranging from fixtures to child protection details.
The committee members will be on-site at the main pitch opposite the leisure centre to offer advice, and there will be refreshments available as well.
The senior team started their season with a tournament at Launceston last weekend, where they played 120 minutes of rugby against teams from Launceston, Barnstaple and Tavistock.
The Women's team continues to go from strength to strength, with not only an increase in numbers but also skill levels and success.
Are you interested in coaching? Rugby coaching is a hugely rewarding activity that enables you to pass on your experience and skill to the rugby stars of tomorrow.
All coaches have to be CRB checked and are provided training in basic skills, advanced skills and child protection.
No previous knowledge is necessary, but if you are a player who has reluctantly had to hang up their boots, there may be many that would benefit from you experience should you return as a coach.
