Generous supporters from across Cornwall have donated lots for a charity auction to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
The event is due to be held at the Par Inn, in Par, near St Austell, on Saturday, April 23, starting at 8pm. Vouchers for the Flowrider surf machine, near Padstow, as well as dinner at chef Paul Ainsworth’s Michelin Star restaurant, No 6 in Padstow, are up for grabs.
Also on offer is a signed ball from the Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club and a shirt signed by Plymouth Albion players, plus photography sessions, golf days and many other opportunities.
Organising the event is the Row Cornwall team, a group of friends from St Austell and Fowey who have embarked on a marathon fundraising campaign this year for the charity Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
Row Cornwall kicked off with a New Year’s Day dip in the sea at Pentewan Beach, and members are building up to a 200 mile challenge next August, when they will take eight days to row along the Cornwall coast. Already, the team is well over halfway towards an ambitious £10,000 fundraising target.
On the day of the auction, Row Cornwall team members will also be doing a 12 hour row on machines outside the Par Inn, where supporter are welcome to join them, make a donation and even have a go themselves.
The group is supporting Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund (PCRF) in honour of family members and friends who have been affected by the disease.
Other fundraising events planned by Row Cornwall over the next few months will include a bingo evening and a Fun Day at Lankelly Rugby Club in May. Local businesses have also pitched in to support their efforts, including sponsorship from the Cornish agricultural company, Maen Karne , SWBG Centre, Hazeydaze Photography, Motive8me and Sharps Brewery as well as Santander UK, which has match-funded one of the events.
