Residents are calling for a reduced speed limit in a small village following three accidents in three days. People living in the area say they are plagued with traffic problems and now Cornwall Council is considering a 50mph speed limit. 'We live near the junction of the A390 staggered crossroads at the top of the hill at Middle Taphouse and are concerned at the number of collisions and other traffic-related incidents that keep happening and feel that awareness needs to be raised,' said Joyce Salter.

'On Thursday last there were two separate vehicle collisions within an hour at the junction. The first was minor but the second involved four cars and nine children and was attended by three ambulances and an emergency paramedic, an off-duty policeman and several police cars. Two young women were taken to hospital on spinal boards.'

The accidents on Thursday were followed by an accident on Bodithiel Lane on Saturday afternoon where a car ended up on its roof.
