LORRAINE Blunden is facing her challenge of a lifetime when she saddles up for a 200km sponsored horse trek in Central Mongolia in August, to raise money for leading veterinary charity, PDSA. Eighteen-year-old Lorraine, an equine student at Duchy College, Callington, is appealing for support from local animal lovers, to help raise the £1,999 in sponsorship she needs before she can start her trek through the vast hills and valleys of the Khangai mountain range. Her challenge involves riding along rough tracks, a rocky mountain face and a number of river crossings.  Actively fundraising for her trip with her help of her mum, Marian, Lorraine plans to collect money through car boot and cake sales.  The two are also keeping busy organising activities including car washes, hair braiding and auctioning Lorraine off to be a 'slave for a day'! Commenting on her fundraising trek, Lorraine said: 'I am really excited about taking on this challenge as it's the opportunity of a lifetime.  'I've had my horse, Kyia for a year now and after I've finished my studies I'd like to look after and re- train rescued horses. 'I'm also keen to help PDSA provide their PetAid services and hope supporters and animal lovers will sponsor my trek by making a donation.   'No matter how small, every contribution will make a difference to pets in need of vets.' This year, PDSA PetAid services will cost more than £38 million, which will enable PDSA to treat 4,650 sick and injured pets every working day. People wishing to sponsor Lorraine can send a cheque for her attention, payable to PDSA to Bali Hai School Hill, Mevagissey, St Austell, PL26 6TQ.Donations can be made through the charity website http://www.justgiving.com/lou-lou">www.justgiving.com/lou-lou For further information about PDSA Challenge of a lifetime treks which include Hadrian's Wall, Peru, Kilimanjaro and Sweden, please call freephone number 0800 917 2509 or visit the PDSA website on http://www.pdsachallenge.org.uk">www.pdsachallenge.org.uk
