You published a short article on page four of the Thursday 22nd July edition of your newspaper regarding the painting of the War Memorial railings at Looe.
This article was produced by a member of the ex-service community in Looe without my authority or knowledge, and whilst I have no arguments about the general contents of it, in fact I think it is very good, there was a factual error in it that I would like correcting.
I, nor the Royal British Legion in Looe, are seeking sponsorship or re-imbursement for the monies spent on the paint for the flagpoles or railings. Our labour was given freely as we believe that the upkeep of Remembrance is our sacred duty, and this was part of that duty. The paints used have already been paid for and I have no wish to embarrass either myself, the RBL or potential donors by having to return cash subscribed for a purpose that has already been cleared.
Finally may I though your paper thank all those that turned up on the day to give of their time. It was a job well done.
