THIS Christmas, as ever has been a time for celebration and following the rituals and traditions of last year and all the other years in our Seasonal Calendars. Traditionally, Christmas brings together families and friends to celebrate the birth of Christ in the sacred sense; and of course Festive Fayre, Christmas Carols and a considerable amount of secular celebrations too. Most of all, Christmas gives us all an opportunity to share, and offer goodwill to all men. True or false, this is the theory. However, in the hustle and bustle of today's life, living in the fast lane – our priorities can sometimes be diluted – and we can forget the true meaning of Christmas. That said, I sincerely hope that the Community of Saltash, the town I love and serve, have had an enjoyable Christmas; and have had time to share goodwill, and spend time with their loved ones and offer help and support to those alone and needy. May I wish Saltash, and indeed, all your readers a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year. At the same time, may I ask that we spare a thought and a prayer to all the families whose loved ones are serving our Queen and Country in conflict, wherever they may be.
