Vandals were lucky not to have electrocuted themselves when they knocked down a lamp post on Looe seafront, said the East Looe Town Trust (ELTT).
Electrical cables were left exposed after the lamp post was toppled, and a bin was damaged, said a Trust spokesperson.
‘Our maintenance team also had to sweep up shards of glass from broken bottles which littered the area. This is a painstaking job, but one they always take seriously, because of the obvious risk to seafront users.’
Police have been informed and anyone who was in the area at the time is urged to call Trust manager Jane Day on 01503 263709.
