Twenty firefighters battled a blaze amid fears that somebody was trapped early today (May 21).

One person had to be treated by paramedics after suffering the effects of smoke inhalation in the fire, which broke out in the kitchen of a semi-detached home in Landreath Place, St Blazey in the middle of the night.

Firefighters on three appliances from St Austell and Fowey found smoke pouring from the property. 

Crews used four breathing apparatus, one hose reel, one safety jet and one covering jet to put out the flames and make sure everybody was safely accounted for.
