Police are appealing for witnesses to a single-vehicle collision near Whitstone which left a teenage girl seriously injured.
Emergency services were called at 6.40pm on Saturday, October 30, following the collision involving a blue Nissan Micra on the B3254 near Willsworthy Cross.
The Nissan was in collision with a bank and hedge and left the carriageway, ending up on its roof in a field.
The passenger, a 15-year-old girl from Whitstone, was trapped in the vehicle and was extracted by Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service. She sustained a significant head injury and was airlifted to Bristol Children’s Hospital where she remains.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Bideford, was checked over by ambulance at the scene and released.
The road was closed for five hours for officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team to carry out an examination of the scene.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone who saw the collision or the vehicle travelling on the B3254 prior to the incident is asked to contact police via email at [email protected] or by telephone 101.
