WINDS will remain strong but the worst of Storm Imogen may pass this evening, say forecasters.
The rail network is still badly affected, after a train carrying 49 passengers crashed into a tree near Bodmin Parkway this morning. Nobody was hurt, and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service joined Network Rail teams in evacuating all 49 from the scene. All trains in and out of Cornwall were halted.
Homes and schools in the Upton Cross and Coads Green areas were among around 5,000 without power in Cornwall at the peak of the storm late this morning, though most in south east Cornwall have now had their service restored by Western Power engineers.
The weather is expected to stay blustery and showery, says the Met Office. In West Cornwall, the search was continuing for missing RSPCA Inspector Mike Reid, who has not been seen since going to the rescue of sea birds at Porthchapel, near Penzance, yesterday afternoon.
