LIFEBOATMEN have urged the public to stay out of the sea following the rescue of a man from a beach in Whitsand Bay.

Looe and Tamar Coastguard teams assisted paramedics at Trenninow Beach on Easter Saturday afternoon after a 24yr old man suffered a seizure.

The casualty was evacuated from below Wiggle Cliff on the Plymouth inshore lifeboat and then taken to Derriford Hospital.

A spokesperson for Plymouth Lifeboat Station said: ’After a full assessment from the South West Ambulance Service the casualty was taken on board the inshore lifeboat to an awaiting ambulance at Cremyll slipway.

’Given the current COVID-19 outbreak, the RNLI is urging everyone not to use the sea for exercise or recreation, and to follow the clear Government instructions to stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.

’While you are allowed out for daily exercise, we do not recommend that this exercise is on or in the sea.’
