A motorist suffered suspected serious injuries and the A30 was closed for some seven hours yesterday after an accident.

Seven vehicles were seriously damaged in the collision shortly before 3pm on the A30 westbound carriageway just prior to Two Bridges, Polyphant.

A vehicle had run into the rear of a tail-back which had occurred as a result of a broken-down vehicle in the carriageway some distance further west.

A 48-year-old man was taken to Derriford Hospital with suspected serious injuries but was later released.

The road was closed for seven hours for forensic collision investigation work and vehicle recovery.
