A man has been left with serious injuries after the car he was driving was involved in a single-vehicle collision on the A30 at Launceston early yesterday

The incident happened at around 4.40am on the A30 Westbound just after the Pennygillam on-slip.

A blue Peugeot 206 containing a man and a woman in their 30s left the carriageway and collided with a number of trees.

Both the man and woman were extracted from the car by Cornwall firefighters and taken to Derriford Hospital. The man sustained serious injuries. The woman has minor injuries.

Lane One of the A30 remained closed whilst a forensic examination of the collision scene was conducted and was reopened at 11am.
