RSPCA staff and four of their canine friends joined RNLI lifeguards from South East Cornwall for a special training evening to help them with the increased number of call outs for dog rescues. The lifeguards were shown tips and tricks on how to behave around strange dogs especially when they are injured. They were also showed how best to handle the dogs - many of the crew who are dog owners commented that they all learnt something new.
Afterwards two of the dogs decided to cool off in the river outside the Looe boathouse which allowed crews to put into practice what they had just learnt. Check out the RNLI’s website for advice on coastal dog walking.
