Rescuers battle to retrieve man and boy from mud

Rescuers have been battling to retrieve a man and a boy stuck in a kayak on the River Fowey near St Winnow

They were stuck in mud at low tide. 

Two crews from Lostwithiel Fire Station, and specialist water rescue units from St Austell and Falmouth were at the scene this afternoon - a total of 21 crew and two officers. 

The rescue was being attempted as the tide is not due in until after dark and firefighters said the safety of the pair was of concern.

The crews were using mud mats and lines.
