Looe RNLI volunteer crews launched the charity’s D Class inshore lifeboat on Sunday evening (May 27) after reports of a kayaker in difficulties 400 yards south east of second beach.
The crew launched the D Class inshore lifeboat Ollie Naismith and quickly located the kayaker.
The kayaker had been out in Looe bay enjoying the evening and was not in any trouble but was beginning to feel tired.
The inshore lifeboat crew stayed alongside until the kayaker returned safely to Millendreath beach.
Looe RNLI lifeboat operations manager Dave Haines said: ‘From the shore it appeared that someone was in trouble and the informants did the right thing by calling it in.
‘We would always rather launch and not be needed, than not be called and learn that someone was really in danger.
‘Anyone who has concerns about people along the coast or in the water should act promptly and call 999 to alert the Coastguard.’
