Police are warning householders in South East Cornwall to keep their doors locked and properties secure after reports of suspicious activity in a moorland village.

A resident of Darite, near Liskeard, said that she had discovered three intruders in her home yesterday (Monday), and warned other people to be vigilant.

In an incident not thought to be linked, an off-duty police officer spoke to a man believed to be acting suspiciously in Darite on Saturday, but Neighbourhood Beat PC Iain Madden said that no offence had been committed.

’We attended the incident in Darite yesterday morning and spoke with the woman who was obviously quite shocked,’ said PC Madden.

’The three people she saw in her house made off prior to police arrival, an extensive search was done but we did not locate the offenders.

’Nothing had been taken. We would remind people to keep their house doors locked and to report any suspicious behaviour to the police.’
