A city shopping centre was closed off while police investigated an assault which happened at around 11.30pm last night.

A man in his 20s was assaulted at Plymouth’s Drake’s Circus centre and taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.  

A 17-year-old female was arrested at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries. 

The pedestrian access was closed for a period of time to enable officers to preserve and secure the scene.

It was anticipated Mall access would re-open as normal this morning.

Police say this was an isolated incident and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection.
