Police have appealed for witnesses who saw a convoy of cars travelling through South East Cornwall in the hours leading up to a tragic accident at the weekend.
The fatal road traffic collision happened on the A30 at Mount Pleasant, Roche, at around 11.38pm on Saturday (February 24),
Police say a blue BMW travelling west on the A30 lost control, for reasons unknown, and strayed into the eastbound carriageway, colliding with a tractor and trailer.
The BMW was driven by a 20-year-old man from the Truro area, who died at the scene.
His front seat passenger was a 17-year-old girl from Camborne who is critically ill with life-threatening head injuries at Derriford Hospital.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed a VW Polo, VW Golf, VW Bora and a BMW travelling in convoy between Plymouth and the site of the collision on the A30.
They left Plymouth and travelled across the Tamar Bridge at about 10.50pm and continued on the A38, before joining the A30 at Bodmin.
Anybody with information is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101, quoting log number 886 of February 24.
