Police have appealed for witnesses to a serious crash on the outskirts of Launceston yesterday to come forward.
A car collided with the central reservation of the A30 west bound at Pennygillam shortly before 10.30am.
At one stage, both west and east bound carriageways of the A30 were closed so the air ambulance could land and take the injured male driver to hospital at Derriford.
The east bound carriageway was reopened but the west bound carriageway remained closed all morning while officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team conducted a forensic examination of the scene.
The condition of the injured driver has been described as critical but stable.
Any witnesses to the incident are asked to phone 101 and quote log number 191 of October 14.
