There are reports that a pensioner is feared to have died in a New Year’s Eve blaze in Looe.
Police were still at the scene in the early hours of 2018 on Barbican Hill, East Looe after firefighters spent hours fighting the fire in the detached property.
Many people phoned 999 in the minutes before 8pm.
Appliances from Looe, Liskeard, Polruan and Saltash Community Fire Stations, along with a whole time officer, were immediately sent to the scene by Fire Control.
Crews found the property was well alight and were unable to get into it because of the heat and the collapsed roof.
Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, four hose reel jets and three main jets to tackle the fire but by shortly before midnight, the property had been completely destroyed.
Teams stayed on scene until 3.25am damping down.
