Victims of sexual assault and abuse in Cornwall and Devon, including children, will be helped by extra funding from the NHS.

An additional sum of more than £150,000 will enhance the services provided by the sexual assault referral centres (SARCs) in the two counties.

The centres will be able to offer more psychological and medical support to victims of sexual assault at weekends.

The funding will also pay for three new children and young people’s advisers.

Two will cover East and West Cornwall for the Pool-based victim support organisation, Skoodhya. The other will join the SARC in Plymouth, run by Twelves Company, a Devon and Cornwall sexual violence and domestic abuse support charity.
