A man died in a crash on the A38 near Notter Bridge last night (June 28).
Police are appealing for witnesses after the collision involving a blue Nissan Note and a light goods vehicle shortly before 8.45pm.
Fire and rescue service crews from Saltash used crash rescue equipment to release the driver of the Nissan.
But the 52-year-old man, from Penryn, was declared dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Police said: ’The Nissan appears to have been in collision with the rear of the light goods vehicle causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Formal identification has not yet taken place but his next of kin has been informed.’
The 51-year-old male driver of the lorry, from Spain, was not believed to have been injured as a result of the collision.
The road was closed in both directions to enable officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit to carry out a forensic examination of the scene. The road was reopened at 3.25am on Wednesday.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the vehicles being driven moments before, is asked to email [email protected], or call 101, quoting reference 882 of June 28.
