Public help after a woman died on a Cornish road yesterday has led to the arrest of a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and of failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
A member of the public called police shortly before 4.45am yesterday (July 19) following the discovery of the woman’s body on Trewiston Lane, St Minver.
Following an appeal to locate a Landrover Defender thought to be involved in the collision, a vehicle was recovered from the car park of Exeter St David’s railway station for forensic examination.
The male driver of the vehicle was located in London shortly after midnight and has been arrested. He is in custody in Plymouth awaiting interview by police.
At this time police are not looking for any other vehicles in relation to the incident and would like to thank all members of the public who got in touch with sightings of possible vehicles.
Police have renewed their appeal for anyone who saw the collision, or who has further information, to come forward. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have come across the victim’s two dogs which she was walking prior to the collision.
Anyone who has any information which could help the police with their investigation is asked to email [email protected] or call 101, quoting reference 81 of July 19.
