A driver from Liskeard was in police custody after an accident on the A30 yesterday.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision at around 7.20pm on the A30 Westbound carriageway between Five Lanes and Bolventor junctions.

The vehicles involved were a blue Subaru Legacy and a white Mercedes GLA 200; the collision occurred near Trewint Marsh.

The Subaru was driven by a 35-year-old man from Slovakia, who was accompanied by two male passengers.

As a result of the collision both passengers from the Subaru have suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and both remain at Derriford Hospital. 

The Mercedes was being driven by a 54-year-old man from Liskeard who has suffered minor injuries. He has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and Scenes of Crime all attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision and would like to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage or who saw the Mercedes prior to the collision.
