The fire service quickly dealt with a fire at The Pier House Hotel in Charlestown this morning.
Two fire appliances from St Austell Community Fire Station attended the incident and
firefighters had to cut away floorboards to locate and extinguish the fire that was between the ground and first floor of the three-storey building. They used breathing apparatus, a hosereel, a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher and a thermal imaging camera. They received the call at 11.06am and the fire was extinguished by 12.15hrs.
After a brief closure the hotel reopened to customers just after 1.30pm.
