Fire crews from across Cornwall were at the scene of a massive blaze in a scrapyard near the A38 for more than 24 hours.

They finally declared the scene at WH Orchard and Son, near Dobwalls, safe on Friday evening.

Residents had been advised to stay in their homes with windows closed as firefighters battled the blaze on Thursday and Friday.

The incident was finally declared closed close to midnight on Friday after using a thermal image camera to assess the scene.
