FIREFIGHTERS from Saltash had to be decontaminated after dealing with a fire where asbestos was present.
Crew manning the Environmental Support Vehicle and one fire engine were mobilsed to South Petherwin near Launceston on Friday evening, where a large shed was alighht.
’Due to asbestos being confirmed present, Saltash were required to set up decontamination for the affected firefighters who battled the blaze,’ said a spokesperson for Saltash Community Fire Station.
’A total of six firefighters required decontaminating and all equipment used has now been safely cleaned or sent away for further cleaning.’
