Firefighters have been battling a house blaze in Crafthole since late this afternoon, with police advising people to avoid the area.

The first 999 call was received shortly after 4pm stating that there was smoke issuing from the roof of a building.

Appliances from Torpoint, Saltash and Liskeard were mobilised with a wholetime fire officer. They asked for reinforcements from a fourth appliance, an aerial ladder platform and a water carrier.

Special appliances from Launceston, St Austell and St Dennis have been mobilised to support the crews on scene.

Devon and Cornwall police are advising people to avoid the area due to the traffic.
