Firefighters from across South East Cornwall were last night battling a blaze in a chalet.

Several 999 calls just after 11.30pm last night alerted emergency services to a wooden chalet on fire on Military Road, Freathy near Torpoint.

Two appliances from Torpoint were sent to the scene and their crews immediately called for reinforcements.

Additional teams from Looe and Liskeard were mobilised.

The wooden chalet measured around 15 metres by 10 metres.

As three teams of firefighters with breathing apparatus using one hose reel and two main jets fought the fire, Western Power were called to isolate the power supply.

The road was closed and Police were controlling traffic.
