CORNWALL was today mopping up after a day of flooding across the county.

Polperro, Fowey and Looe were worst hit after torrential rain caused problems.

Roads were hit including near West Taphouse and in the Draynes Valley, where Liskeard firefighters were among emergency services called to help the occupants of two cars stuck in flood water.

Two people were trapped in a car in approximately three feet of water in the Lansallos area. Firefighters from Polruan and Looe were among emergency services helping them.

A team from Callington Fire Station was sent to Canworthy Water, where a vehicle was stranded in a ford.

Whilst on route crews came across a road traffic collision with a car on its side, and gave general assistance at the scene, before continuing to the original incident where the occupants of the stranded vehicle were safe and well.
