A COMMUNITY has quickly rallied to the aid of a family whose home was gutted by fire earlier today.
One woman was taken to hospital with burns to her face, neck and hands after the blaze at a house in Trelawney Rise, Torpoint, this morning.
Six fire crews were called to help extinguish the fire, and Police and the Cornwall Air Ambulance were also at the scene.
The fire was in a cul-de-sac of three terraced houses, and the neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution. Neighbours were later allowed back into their properties.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
In the hours following the news of the fire, more than £4000 has been raised after a local woman, Charlotte Robson, launched a Go Fund Me appeal.
Charlotte said she did not know the family personally but that many in Torpoint did, and that she had had permission from the family to begin the appeal.
Many offers of clothing and furniture have also come in and on the fundraising page a message says that donations can be left at the Torpoint Council Chambers tomorrow from 9am.
